Labour Shortages to Reemerge as Ontario's Economy Improves
By 2025, the labour shortage in Ontario's tourism sector will grow to over 80,000 unfilled jobs. The latest update of the Ontario Tourism Labour Supply and Demand Study, Ontario 2010: Economic Recession Only a Temporary Reprieve from Labour Shortages , indicates that, as demand for labour grows, the pool of available workers will have an increasingly difficult time keeping up. Ontario's population is aging, causing labour force growth to slow while demand for services rises. The resulting downtime and missed opportunities could cost Ontario's tourism destinations millions of dollars.
