Ethical Excellence
Ethical excellence helps individuals understand the importance and benefits of exhibiting ethical conduct to community members and fellow team members. The skills your police service will learn in this program are the fundamentals of being a Service Professional.
This program helps create a consistent ethical standard within the organization and promotes a good work environment where there is an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
Program At A Glance
Part 1: Exploring Ethics
- Define ethics, and identify why it is important to follow standards regarding ethical conduct in the workplace and when our ethics might be challenged
- Identify your ethical preference by completing an orientation questionnaire
- Recognize the 2 types of ethical orientation: the ethic of justice or rights and the ethic of care, and describe the strengths and weaknesses of each approach
- Identify the 5 aspects of police ethics: competence, honesty, confidentiality, education and Information
Part 2: Putting Ethics into Practice
- Examine ways to resolve common ethical dilemmas Create a foundation for ethics in policing – the do’s and don’ts
- Creation of “my personal code of ethics”
